Training Opportunities

As the drone and advanced air mobility (AAM) sectors continue to evolve, understanding how regulation and technology work together is essential for safe, efficient and scalable operations. Yet, keeping pace with changing compliance frameworks and emerging technical standards can be challenging for even the most experienced teams.

At Murzilli Consulting, we go beyond theory. Together with our sister company DroneTalks, we deliver training programmes that do more than explain regulations. We show how to apply them in practice, supported by real-world expertise and technology insight.

Our courses are led by experts who have helped shape European drone regulations, built certified systems and implemented advanced operations across multiple countries. Participants gain the skills to interpret and apply regulatory requirements effectively while also understanding the technical foundations that underpin compliance, from system architecture and Remote ID to automation and U-space integration.

We do not just teach what the rules say. We show how to make them work for your organisation. By combining regulatory knowledge with hands-on technical experience, our training helps teams accelerate approvals, reduce risk and build lasting internal capability to operate safely and confidently in the modern aviation environment.

Airspace Training - Coming in 2026

The purpose of our new Airspace Training, available from 2026, is to provide an understanding of the main structures, classifications, and requirements of the airspaces commonly used by ATS services worldwide. The course provides context for actual flight operations, particularly those involving UAS, in these airspaces and the air navigation services provided.

Expert Instructors. Learn from AAM leaders and former regulators!

Our team of drone consultants and instructors is made up of former regulators and industry experts and leaders with real life experience in working with drone companies and civil aviation authorities (CAAs) worldwide, such as Swiss Federal Office of Civil Aviation (FOCA) and Agencia Estatal de Seguridad Aérea (AESA) (Spanish CAA). Our teachers have led key initiatives in the advanced aviation ecosystem and contributed to major organisations, manufacturers and authorities in public and private sectors.

Lorenzo Murzilli

Co-founder and CEO of Murzilli Consulting

Our Co-founder and CEO, Lorenzo Murzilli, is globally recognised as the “Father” of the Specific Operations Risk Assessment (SORA) methodology. The SORA framework is the international standard recommended by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) in all of its member states to evaluate risks and operational mitigations in drone flights, as well as to establish clear safety limitations that ensure said operations can take place without danger to people, property or other aircraft.

As one of the original architects of the SORA methodology, former Chair of JARUS WG-SRM, and former leader of the Innovation and Digitalisation Unit at the Swiss FOCA, Lorenzo has shaped policy and innovation worldwide, from Switzerland’s U-space framework to Europe’s first Remote ID service. As a founding member of the Global UTM Association (GUTMA) and guest lecturer at leading universities, he continues to advance global discussions on aviation safety and drone integration.

As our head teacher, Lorenzo personally designs and delivers specific SORA 2.5 and regulatory courses that combine theoretical sessions with practical demonstrations and interactive discussions to give attendees a comprehensive overview of all relevant regulations currently applied in the European drone ecosystem.

Juanjo Sola

Director of Regulatory Affairs and Commercial Space at Murzilli Consulting

As former head of the UAS Division of the Spanish civil aviation authority (AESA), as well as member of the ICAO RPAS Panel, JARUS, and EASA’s UAS Focal Point, Juanjo maintains strong and long-lasting relationships with government authorities. His guidance has helped European organisations from both the private and public sector to succesfully navigate the new regulatory challenges and implement the required means of compliance introduced by the latest regulations.

Rafael Pecos Macías

Senior Manager for Airspace at Murzilli Consulting

Rafael leads our Airspace training programmes, as former Head of Airspace Operational Coordination Deptartment for New Entrants & Non-standard operations management at ENAIRE. He is also a former representative in the Technical Task Force of CANSO Europe, former representative in the ICAO's Instrument Flight Procedures Panel of experts, and some other working teams related to PBN at European and ICAO level.

Testimonials

“It exceeded my expectations in terms of the technical level of discussion we managed to have. It was fantastic in that regard and absolutely what we needed.”
Matt Banham
Chief Technology Officer, NATS
“Thanks to you for your training – expertly delivered. It was hugely beneficial and, safe to say, there was no single question from our team that you could not answer!”
Kevin Woosley
Head of RPAS Applications and Oversight, CAA UK
“By learning about the concepts behind SORA 2.0 and 2.5, we were able to understand why this system was established, making the course even better than I expected.”
Naoya Michii
UAS team, Japan Civil Aviation Bureau (JCAB)
“The SORA 2.5 training was truly worth it. It brought so much clarity to how the new version fits into real operations, with examples that made even the complex parts feel approachable. Lorenzo has a great way of explaining and encouraging open discussion. It felt more like an exchange between professionals. I came away with a clearer and more confident view of how to apply SORA in practice.”
Zeynep Kocabas
Compliance Verification Engineer, Odys Aviation
“Very interesting information about the background and origins of the SORA methodology. Very useful training!”
Benjamin Fragnière
Aerospace Engineer, Swiss Federal Office of Civil Aviation
“The topics where actual, very clearly explained with reasons and rationales, and good practical example. The slides where available up-front and the instructor very competent in the matter. It was interactive and oriented to the needs of the audience.”
Adriano Acanfora
Technology and Strategy Program Officer, Sesar Joint Undertaking
“It really exceeded my expectations. I really liked the fact that something so complex was made so enjoyable and understandable. Lorenzo gave us several examples of the most complex cases, and I think that was also key to understanding the heart of the matter.”
Marta García Gutiérrez
UAV Projects Manager, Telespazio
“Well-structured and highly relevant training. Expectations were clearly addressed from the start, and Lorenzo’s deep insight into SORA made JARUS’s intent and implementation much easier to grasp. Excellent delivery.”
Joachim Stenberg
UAS Operator, UAS INTELLIGENCE SWEDEN AB
