Training Opportunities

As the drone and advanced air mobility (AAM) sectors continue to evolve, understanding how regulation and technology work together is essential for safe, efficient and scalable operations. Yet, keeping pace with changing compliance frameworks and emerging technical standards can be challenging for even the most experienced teams.

At Murzilli Consulting, we go beyond theory. Together with our sister company DroneTalks, we deliver training programmes that do more than explain regulations. We show how to apply them in practice, supported by real-world expertise and technology insight.

Our courses are led by experts who have helped shape European drone regulations, built certified systems and implemented advanced operations across multiple countries. Participants gain the skills to interpret and apply regulatory requirements effectively while also understanding the technical foundations that underpin compliance, from system architecture and Remote ID to automation and U-space integration.

We do not just teach what the rules say. We show how to make them work for your organisation. By combining regulatory knowledge with hands-on technical experience, our training helps teams accelerate approvals, reduce risk and build lasting internal capability to operate safely and confidently in the modern aviation environment.

Expert Instructors. Learn from AAM leaders and former regulators!

Our team of drone consultants and instructors is made up of former regulators and industry experts and leaders with real life experience in working with drone companies and civil aviation authorities (CAAs) worldwide, such as Swiss Federal Office of Civil Aviation (FOCA) and Agencia Estatal de Seguridad Aérea (AESA) (Spanish CAA). Our teachers have led key initiatives in the advanced aviation ecosystem and contributed to major organisations, manufacturers and authorities in public and private sectors.

Lorenzo Murzilli

Co-founder and CEO of Murzilli Consulting

Our Co-founder and CEO, Lorenzo Murzilli, is globally recognised as the “Father” of the Specific Operations Risk Assessment (SORA) methodology. The SORA framework is the international standard recommended by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) in all of its member states to evaluate risks and operational mitigations in drone flights, as well as to establish clear safety limitations that ensure said operations can take place without danger to people, property or other aircraft.

As one of the original architects of the SORA methodology, former Chair of JARUS WG-SRM, and former leader of the Innovation and Digitalisation Unit at the Swiss FOCA, Lorenzo has shaped policy and innovation worldwide, from Switzerland’s U-space framework to Europe’s first Remote ID service. As a founding member of the Global UTM Association (GUTMA) and guest lecturer at leading universities, he continues to advance global discussions on aviation safety and drone integration.

As our head teacher, Lorenzo personally designs and delivers specific SORA 2.5 and regulatory courses that combine theoretical sessions with practical demonstrations and interactive discussions to give attendees a comprehensive overview of all relevant regulations currently applied in the European drone ecosystem.

Juanjo Sola

Chief Regulatory Officer (CRO)

Juanjo Sola is a distinguished professional in aerospace, currently serving as the Chief Regulatory Officer at Murzilli Consulting. Juanjo is an Aerospace Engineer, and he holds a master’s degree in Management and Leadership. He is an aeroplane and UAS pilot and has an ATC background.

As former head of the UAS Division of the Spanish civil aviation authority (AESA), as well as member of the ICAO RPAS Panel, JARUS, and EASA’s UAS Focal Point, Juanjo maintains strong and long-lasting relationships with government authorities. His guidance has helped European organisations from both the private and public sector to succesfully navigate the new regulatory challenges and implement the required means of compliance introduced by the latest regulations. He has 20 years of experience in aviation, both as an aeronautical inspector for the Authority and as a consultant in ATMs and airports in the private sector.

He plays a key role in assisting our clients with regulatory matters and Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) operations. He was part of the founding teams of the SORA methodology and U-space regulation. He has contributed to advancing regulatory and safety frameworks for High Altitude Platform Systems (HAPS), supporting their safe integration into the airspace and providing expert guidance on operational and certification concepts.
